NEW DELHI: HTC has been dormant for quite some time when it comes major smartphone launches. At MWC 2018 earlier this year, the Taiwanese tech firm was not in the limelight. However, the firm has now chosen May 23 to be the day when it will be bringing out what can be called its 2018 flagship smartphone. The handset in question is the HTC U12, which is almost confirmed to arrive based on the previous leaks and rumours.
The company has posted the date on social media along with the text ‘Coming Soon. A phone that is more than the sum of its specs.’ Nothing more has been revealed by the company yet.

HTC U12 in all its glory. According to the image, the smartphone will sport a horizontally aligned dual rear camera along with LED flash and a fingerprint sensor. It has also been speculated that HTC might also launch the HTC U12+ edition in order to compete with Samsung Galaxy S9+. There is no official confirmation though.
As per the leaked specifications, the HTC U12
will sport a 6-inch Quad HD+ Super LCD display. The display will be protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top. The smartphone will run Android 8.0 Oreo operating system topped with the Sense UI of the company and will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor.
The smartphone will come with hybrid dual-SIM functionality and will offer 6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB internal storage. Users can further expand the storage up to 2TB by adding a microSD card. In terms of camera functionality, the HTC U12 will sport a 12MP + 16MP UltraPixel camera with dual tone LED flash on the rear end. The front will also offer dual cameras with 8MP+8MP modules and realtime bokeh effects.
The smartphone will come with IP68 rating and will pack a 3420mAh battery.
