Google Home was the first main competitor to the Amazon Echo , and now it’s chasing the Echo overseas.
Starting in June, you’ll be able to buy Google’s smart speaker if you live in the UK, the company confirmed to BBC News on Tuesday at the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona, Spain. The $130 US price converts to roughly £105. The Echo’s been available in the UK since September.
Google’s smart speaker uses a digital assistant — aptly called Google Assistant — to search the web, check your calendar, control your smart home and play music. It made its US debut in November as a hands-free helper similar to the Amazon Echo.
