The two most anticipated Android phones of the year are now official: Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and LG’s G6. In this article we aim to discover the key specification differences to help you make an informed purchasing decision, though you should also check out our LG G6 review and Samsung Galaxy S8 review for more in-depth details.
The Galaxy S8 is available to pre-order now and will officially go on sale on 28 April. It’s available SIM-free for £689, and you can check out the best Galaxy S8 deals here.
Meanwhile, LG still hasn’t confirmed the official UK release date and pricing for the G6. It’s expected to go on sale around 7 April at around £699, but that would make it more expensive than the higher-specified Galaxy S8 so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Following the lead of Xiaomi and its Mi Mix , the trend for this year’s flagship phones looks sets to be bezel-free designs. Not only does this look great, but also means you get a larger screen on a phone that’s not a great deal bigger than before.
The LG G6 boasts an impressive Quad HD 5.7in display with an aspect ratio of 18:9, taller than the standard 16:9. The Galaxy S8 has a more standard widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9, but it has increased the display size from 5.1in to a whopping 5.8in. And this has been achieved without significantly changing the case size, with the physical home button now gone from the front.
