High temperatures in the upper 80s to 90s expected Saturday and Sunday
New Orleans residents planning to enjoy the Memorial Day weekend outdoors should be ready for summer temperatures, as meteorologists forecast heat index value reaching 100 degrees Saturday (May 27) and Sunday.
The National Weather Service Thursday predicted that Friday will be dry with slowly increasing humidity. From there, high temperatures in the upper 80s to 90s are expected Saturday and Sunday. Meteorologists said the heat index values, which factors humidity into the temperature, will approach 100 degrees.
A cold front will also slowly approach the area late Sunday, increasing the chance of scattered thunderstorms.
Thunderstorms are also expected to occur during the afternoon and evening hours of Monday through Wednesday.
