A spokesman for President Moon Jae-in told the AP that Moon’s visit was arranged after a meeting between his foreign policy adviser and Matt Pottinger, who leads Asia issues for the White House National Security Council (NSC) .
“There was a basic exchange of opinions about North Korea’s nuclear and missile provocations, ” Yoon Young-chan, a spokesman for the South Korean president, told the news outlet.
“The United States reconfirmed its firm commitment to defend South Korea and both sides also agreed to strengthen collaborative efforts to deter North Korean provocations.
