Storms that left a wake of damage in other parts of the country made their way to Charlotte Monday afternoon.
February is on track to be one of the warmest if not the warmest Februaries on record. In keeping with higher temperatures many flowers and trees, like Bradford Pear trees, are in full bloom. The weather forecast for the March 1st calls for a chance of showers and a high near 80 degrees continuing the unseasonable late winter warming.

A winter storm watch is now posted for the Southern Piedmont — all counties south of I-40, including Char-Meck — for Friday night and Saturday morning.
From WBTV meteorologist Al Conklin — The much-talked about late-week storm is still 3-4 days out, and has not even formed in the Gulf of Mexico yet, so while I am confident some snow is coming our way late Friday into Saturday, the exact details — as in how much for any one location — is still very much up for debate.

A smattering of rain fell in the Charlotte region Tuesday morning. The area has only had trace amounts of rain since Oct. 8th when 2.12 inches of rain fell thanks to Hurricane Matthew. Further west in North Carolina firefighters battling drought fueled wildfires should get some help from the passing front the next two days.
