Some 70 countries and regions including Japan signed Wednesday a multilateral treaty to prevent tax avoidance by multinational companies.
The pact is designed to implement an action plan for preventing so-called base erosion and profit shifting, or BEPS, by such companies.
The pact will allow new tax rules in the BEPS action plan to be reflected in bilateral tax treaties among the signatories automatically in principle.
