Katy Perry looks to be taking the high road in her longtime feud with Taylor Swift.
The 32-year-old songstress, performing for 1,000 fans Monday in Downtown Los Angeles, swapped out a lyric in her performance of the song Swish that was thought to have been a dig at the 27-year-old Grammy-winner.
The Firework singer, who’s on the promotional trail for her new album Witness, swapped the previous lyric — ‘Don’t you come for me / No, not today’ — to a gentler, ‘God bless you on your journey / Oh, baby girl.’
The abridged lyric matched her remarks about her longtime rival she made on the TODAY show Monday, when she said of Swift, ‘God bless her on her journey.’
In that exchange, Perry said that Swish was ‘not about anyone in particular.
‘That might be your story but my story, which I know is true for me, is that I’ve had not just one person bully me or one person hold me down or met one troll, ‘ Perry said.
The Teenage Dream artist, speaking Saturday with Arianna Huffington, said she’s burying the hatchet in her longtime conflict with Swift, which started years back when a backup dancer left Swift’s tour to work with Perry.
The Dark Horse diva told Huffington, ‘I am ready to let it go. I forgive her and I’ m sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her.
«Maybe I don’ t agree with everything she does, and she doesn’ t agree with everything I do, but I just really truly want to come together in a place of love and forgiveness and understanding and compassion, ‘ she said of Swift, who she described as ‘a fantastic songwriter.’
Perry said she let go any hard feelings stemming from Swift’s release of her entire catalog via Spotify Friday at midnight, as Perry was releasing Witness.
