A man has been charged with murder after fatally shooting a young Houston man last year, according to police.
Tavish McKinley, 25, was charged Thursday with murder in the 208th State District Court for his role in the killing of Rayland Dunta Maryland, 22, of Houston.
The shooting occurred around 10: 30 p.m. Feb. 25,2016, in the 11000 block of Segrest in south Houston, according to police.
The two men got into an argument that escalated into an exchange of gunfire, police said. Maryland was eventually struck in the back and died at the scene. The suspect fled on foot.
After further investigation, McKinley was identified as the suspect in the case. He was arrested Thursday.
McKinley is being held in Harris County Jail with a $100,000 bail. He is expected to appear in court Monday.
