Hangouts competitor, Google Allo, is going to receive a new web client allowing users to use the app on desktops but folks have to wait few more weeks before the client is released to the public.
It’s been a year since Google announced its Hangouts competitor, Allo, which has some decent features like built-in Google Assistant and Smart Reply, which was later on introduced in Gmail as well. But some quite useful features still have been missing from the app, including a desktop or web client.
Back in February, Nick Fox, Google’s VP of Communications Products, gave a sneak peek of the upcoming web client of the app. Then in May, he tweeted that the client is «still a month or two from public release». It has been about two months now, and the client is still yet to see the light of day.
According to a recent tweet from Amit Fulay, Google’s Head of Product for Allo and Duo, the release has been further delayed for «few more weeks».
However, he didn’t mention any reason for the delay and no other statement has been given regarding the exact date of release. The web client will be a nice addition to the app but, unfortunately, folks have to wait some more weeks before being able to get their hands on it.
