The ‘Shooter’ star, who does all his own stunts, shared a picture from a hospital bed, his leg in a cast.
Even action stars don’t always stick their landings.
Shooter star Ryan Phillippe revealed he suffered a «freak accident» that left his leg «badly broken» in a series of tweets Monday.
Phillippe typically performs his own stunts in his physically strenuous Shooter role, but as he explained on Twitter, he wasn’t on set when he injured his leg.
«Hey, guys. I didn’t injure myself doing a stunt or anywhere near the set of Shooter. I was the victim of a freak accident during a family outing on Sunday. My leg is badly broken & required surgical attention, but I will make a full recovery, am in good hands, and will be back in action soon, » he wrote.
While he recovers, he shared that he’ll be live-tweeting Shooter ‘s season two premiere on Tuesday and holding a Twitter Q&A before the show airs «to pass the time.»
On Sunday, Phillippe first shared his hospitalization on Instagram, posting a photo showing his leg wrapped and suspended.
«I’m going to be ok & I appreciate your concern, » he captioned the shot.
While Phillippe’s injury wasn’t Shooter -related, a stuntman from the show was pinned under a car and hospitalized last year .
Speaking about Shooter with the New York Times last year, Phillippe said he «wanted (the audience) to see me get a little beat up.”
«I’ m 42, and I can’ t do hard-core action much longer, » he said. «And I got to help choreograph the fights and come up with really sick, twisted ways for myself to get injured.»
USA TODAY has contacted Phillippe’s representatives for comment.
