It goes without saying, you won’t always get what you want from a special promotion. Such is the case for a user who tried to get a $200 credit from Samsung for a recently ordered Galaxy S8.
Samsung has been offering some pretty sweet deals for users who want a new Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. More recently, it has offered those that are willing to trade-in a device, a $200 credit. The details of the promotion are fairly loose, only requiring users to send in a working phone that can hold a charge and without screen damage, but it looks like some users are experiencing difficulties when trying to get the full credit amount.
According to a user that shared their story to Phone Arena, it appears that their mint condition LG handset was not sufficient enough to get the full credit. While the user does offer photos of the phone — which looks to be in fairly immaculate condition — according to Samsung, the handset did not meet the criteria under «normal wear and tear». For this reason, the user was not given the full credit of $200, but instead had $175 deducted from the total amount, resulting in a $25 credit being distributed. Sadly, there is little that can be done in this scenario, but it does seem like a bit of a raw deal, since you cannot reverse the transaction and get the phone back once it has been sent in.
Unfortunately, with promotions like this, it’s always a hit or miss scenario, and not everyone will get out of it unscathed. Luckily, the trade-in promotion for Samsung has now concluded, and this story should be a tale of caution for anyone dealing with a similar promotion in the future.
