HMD Global has been doing a decent job of keeping its Nokia handsets updated. Now, it appears that the firm is committed to bringing Android 7.1.1 to its Nokia 3 by the end of August.
HMD Global announced its lower and mid-range handsets, the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5, during Mobile World Congress in February. During that time, the firm has done a decent job of keeping its handsets up to date and has now announced that the Nokia 3 will be getting Android 7.1.1 by the end of August.
The news comes from Chief Product Officer at HMD Global Juho Sarvikas, who stated via Twitter that the handset would receive the update sometime in the following weeks. Although it isn’t the latest iteration of the current build of Android, the update would bring it ahead of many other devices. Earlier in July, it was reported that only 0.9% of Android handsets were running 7.1, while only 10.6% were running Android 7.0.
Luckily, those that own a Nokia device will be happy to know that HMD Global is committed to Android O, Google’s next release of the mobile OS, and will make the update available for current units.
