Two vacancies remain in Western District court
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump has nominated a state judge from Rayville and a Lafayette lawyer to serve as federal judges in the Western District of Louisiana. The White House announced the nominations of Terry Doughty and Michael Juneau on Thursday (Aug. 3) .
Doughty has served as a judge since his 2008 election in the 5th Judicial District covering Franklin, Richland and West Carroll parishes. He previously worked as an assistant district attorney.
Juneau is a founding member and shareholder of the Juneau David law firm. His experience includes work on the civil litigation over the BP Deepwater Horizon oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010.
The Western District, one of three in Louisiana, has four vacancies for district court judges following Monday’s disability retirement of Patricia Minaldi of Lake Charles. She had been on medical leave since December for treatment of severe alcoholism.
