Serious damage to an engine, described by one passenger as «slightly blown apart,» caused a Los Angeles-bound flight from Paris to make an emergency landing in Canada on Saturday
Flight AF66 from Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport sustained «serious damage to one of its four engines,» forcing a landing in Goose Bay airport in Canada’s Newfoundland and Labrador province, Air France said in a statement.
Twitter users aboard the plane documented the engine trouble.
CBC News reported the engine «blew out over the Atlantic Ocean» after leaving Paris on Saturday morning.
Air France said the plane landed safely shortly before noon ET.
«The regularly trained pilots and cabin crew handled this serious incident perfectly,» the airline said in a statement. «The passengers are currently being assisted by teams dispatched to the location.»
The airline said it’s working to get the passengers to Los Angeles.
