The company has not commented on whether the tragedy will affect its plans this week to open FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine and host the Cal Jam 17 festival in Devore.
Beverly Hills-based live events company Live Nation Entertainment has issued an official statement following the mass shooting at its Route 91 Harvest festival in Las Vegas on Sunday evening.
“We are heartbroken over the tragedy that took place at the Route 91 Harvest festival,” the release read. “To think that anyone would want to inflict harm on a gathering of music lovers is beyond our comprehension.
“And while we are stunned and grieving over this incomprehensible act of violence, we know that this is a moment when we must come together to prevent more tragedies like this from occurring.
“Live Nation will do everything in our power to support the victims and their families through the aftermath of this horrendous event and extends our deepest gratitude to the heroic first responders who helped save as many lives as possible. To our Live Nation on-site employees, we cannot thank you enough for your bravery and perseverance over the past 24 hours and will ensure you have the resources and support necessary to heal from this.”
Live Nation is scheduled to celebrate the grand opening of its latest temporary outdoor venue, FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine, on Thursday, Oct. 5 with performances by Irvine’s Young the Giant and Southern California band Cold War Kids. As of now, that is still the plan, however Live Nation has canceled its invitation-only exclusive venue preview scheduled for 6-8 p.m. tonight, Monday, Oct. 2.
Live Nation is also the promoter for Cal Jam 17, the Foo Fighters-curated rock fest happening at Glen Helen Regional Park and Amphitheatre in Devore on Saturday, Oct. 7. So far, there is no word of changes for that festival.
Country superstar Jason Aldean was on stage, closing out the three-day festival when the shooting occurred and the audience was left scrambling for cover in the outdoor festival grounds. Aldean is scheduled to headline Go Country 105.1/FM’s Go Fest at the Forum in Inglewood on Friday, Oct. 6, Mattress Firm Amphitheatre in Chula Vista on Saturday, Oct. 7, and Honda Center in Anaheim on Sunday, Oct. 8. All of those shows are also happening at venues where Live Nation books the entertainment.
It is unknown at this time if those shows will go on as scheduled. Aldean’s publicity company, The Green Room PR, said via an email that they had no further information.
This story is still developing.
