Two visitors also injured on trip to scenic site in Yichang, Hubei province
Three Taiwanese tourists were killed and two others injured in a rockfall at a scenic site near the Three Gorges on Sunday, Beijing’s Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO) said.
The rockfall occurred at the Tribe of the Three Gorges Scenic Area in Yichang, Hubei province.
The tourists were part of a group of 45 on a trip by the Taipei-based Trans-Continental Travel Service, the TAO said.
The Taipei-based China Times said the trip was organised by the island’s National Theatre Association.
The deaths come four years after a bus crash in Hunan province killed three Taiwanese visitors and another traffic accident in Jilin province in 2011 that killed four Taiwanese.
