In what can be seen as a record of sorts, Gionee has launched eight smartphones in one go. All eight smartphones embrace 2017’s hottest trend of edge-to-edge displays but belong to different price categories. The phones on offer include the Gionee S11, Gionee S11s, Gionee M7 Plus, Gionee M7, Gionee F6, Gionee F205, Gionee Steel M7 Power and Gionee Power 3.
Gionee claims that the biggest advancement in mobile in 2017 has been edge-to-edge displays — and in response to the same, the company has updated almost their entire product portfolio. They have also partnered with 2,000 apps and 900 games for FullView display compatibility.
The Gionee S11s is the company’s new flagship product. The glass and metal clad smartphone has a frame made out of stainless steel which Gionee claims is 27 per cent harder than stainless steel. There is a 6.1-inch AMOLED display up front which has a tall 18:9 aspect ratio.
On the imaging front, the smartphone has four cameras in total — a 16+8MP combination on the front and a 20+8MP dual camera setup at the back. The Gionee S11s is powered by the MediaTek Helio P30 processor paired with 6GB of RAM and a 3,600mAh battery with fast charging support. It has 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded via a microSD card.
Gionee also launched the S11 which is a watered down version of the S11s. It has the same glass and metal design of the S11s but is powered by the MediaTek Helio P23 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and a 3,210mAh battery. There is 64GB of storage on board. On the imaging front, the S11 has a dual camera setup at the back as well as the front.
The M7 Plus is the flagship model of Gionee’s Marathon series and comes with a leather back paired to a metal frame for rigidity The M7 Plus comes with a dual security encryption chip which is capable of encrypting messages, photos and even payment data directly at the hardware level.

The Gionee M7 is powered by the Snapdragon 660 processor paired with 6GB of RAM and a 5,000mAh battery with wireless charging support. The highlight of the M7 Plus is the FullView 6.43-inch FullHD+ AMOLED display up front that flows from one edge of the device to the other. It has 128GB of internal storage. Gionee also unveiled two new colours for the M7 which was recently launched in China.
Gionee also unveiled two new smartphones in the F series. The Gionee F6 comes with a 5.7-inch FullView display, 3GB of RAM, a 2,970mAh battery and 32GB of internal storage. Another phone called the F205 has a metal unibody design and comes with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 2,670mAh battery and a 5.45-inch FullView display. On the imaging front, the F205 has an 8MP camera up front and a 5MP rear camera. Both smartphones are powered by unspecified Qualcomm chipsets.
Gionee also unveiled two new smartphones in the company’s power series — M7 Power and Power 3. The former has already been launched in India and comes with a 5,000mAh battery,. The latter has a 5.5-inch FullView display, a 4,000mAh battery, 3GB RAM, an 8MP camera up front an 8MP rear camera and 32GB of internal storage. It is powered by an unspecified Qualcomm processor.
The pricing of the smartphones are as follows —
Gionee M7 Plus — CNY 4,399 (roughly Rs 43,000)
Gionee S11s — CNY 3,299 (roughly Rs 32,300)
Gionee S11 — CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs 17,600)
Gionee F6 — CNY 1,299 (roughly Rs 12,700)
Gionee F 205 — CNY 999 (roughly Rs 9,700)
Gionee Power 3 — CNY 1,399 (roughly Rs 13,700)
Out of the eight smartphones shown at today’s event, the M7 Power has already been launched in India and the S11 is set to launch in the country in the next few weeks (December — January launch expected). Rumours also point towards Gionee bringing the S11s to India in the future.
