The V7 continues Vivo’s sheer fascination for ridiculously high megapixel counts in their cameras by offering a whopping 24-megapixel selfie shooter on the front.
Vivo launched the V7 phone in India on Monday at a price of Rs 18,990. The Vivo V7, which is simply a toned down version of the V7+ which was launched in September, is a phone banking heavily on design and camera capabilities.
The concept of a bezel-less screen is fast becoming the new industry norm. The concept isn’t restricted to the top-tier flagship segment any more, even as companies like Micromax and LG have recently made it more mainstream, courtesy the Micromax Canvas Infinity and the LG Q6/Q6+. The Vivo V7 also belongs to the mid-level price segment and ship with a near bezel-less screen, meaning the phone is designed from grounds-up for multimedia consumption.
At the same time, the V7 continues Vivo’s sheer fascination for ridiculously high megapixel counts in their cameras by offering a whopping 24-megapixel selfie shooter on the front. On the rear, the Vivo V7 ships with a 16-megapixel camera.
We take a closer look:
Processor: The Vivo V7 is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor clubbed with Adreno 506GPU.
RAM: 4GB
Internal storage: It comes with 32GB of internal storage which is further expandable by up to 256GB via a dedicated micro-SD card slot.
Screen: The Vivo V7 comes with a 5.7-inch 720p IPS LCD display with a 1440×720 pixel resolution.
Rear camera: The phone comes with a 16-megapixel camera on the rear with LED flash. The rear camera can record 1080p videos.
Front camera: On the front, the V7 comes with a whopping 24-megapixel camera with LED flash. The front camera can record 1080p videos.
Software: The phone runs Android 7.1.2-based Funtouch OS 3.2 which is Vivo’s custom ROM.
Battery: The V7+ is backed by a 3,000mAh battery. Fast charging isn’t supported.
— While Vivo phones are known for ridiculously high megapixel counts in their cameras, they’re largely seen as an iPhone tip-off from the get-go. The V7 changes things, as it looks nothing like the iPhone.
— The most striking aspect of the Vivo V7 is its design. The V7 is an edge-to-edge or bezel-less phone, which means much like the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the Apple iPhone X, Vivo’s new phone has an unusually tall screen and an unusual aspect ratio of 18:9. Vivo calls it Full View: a concept that gives Vivo’s new phone a screen-to-body ratio of almost 84 per cent. The V7 is a 5.7-inch phone, but because Vivo has shaved off much of the top and bottom bezels as well as the bezels on the sides, the phone occupies a smaller footprint. It feels smaller in the hands.
— In terms of all-round design, the Vivo V7 comes with a full-metal body with discreet antenna lines and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The phone comes with curved 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the front.
— The Vivo V7 uses its selfie camera to serve a face unlocking mechanism which means much like the OnePlus 5T that was launched recently, Vivo’s new phone can also be unlocked via a user’s face.
The Vivo V7 will be available in Matte Black and Champagne Gold colour options at a price of Rs 18,990 offline and online exclusively from Flipkart from November 24. Potential buyers can now pre-order the phone from the platform.
Buyers who choose to pre-book the V7 can avail no cost EMIs (at Rs 1,584 per month), exchange offers on their old phone, cashback on HDFC credit and debit card, one-time free screen replacement, and free couple movie vouchers from BookMyShow.
