The Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) announced that the Zimbabwean parliament had decided to impeach President Robert Mugabe, who has ruled the country since the 1980s.
On Tuesday, the Zimbabwean parliament held a session as ZANU-PF had brought the motion on the impeachment of the 93-year-old president. The Associated Press reported that members of parliament

Last week, the country’s military deployed armored vehicles to the Zimbabwean capital city of Harare, confining Mugabe, 93, to his house, while ZANU-PF urged the leader to step down. On Monday, following Mugabe’s failure to meet the ruling party’s ultimatum to resign, the party decided to begin impeachment proceedings.
