Firewall Zero Hour was announced at PSX 2017 this weekend as a PlayStation VR exclusive.
PlayStation VR owners will be able to get their hands on a team-based shooter next year when Firewall Zero Hour released.
In development at First Contact Entertainment, Firewall Zero Hour is a team-based, tactical multiplayer FPS featuring two teams of mercenaries.
The teams have been hired by “anonymous contract handlers,” and the goal is to either protect or obtain highly sensitive information on a laptop. While snatching a laptop may sound easy, you know it won’t be.
Matter of fact it will be a dangerous endeavor as the team tasked with protecting the information travels to various, exotic locations. It will be dangerous for the team trying to obtain the laptop as well.
As everything plays out, the team handlers will be watching it all unfold and offering information along the way. They basically act as the players’ “eye in the sky,” and should the mission succeed, players will be rewarded “handsomely.”
Firewall Zero Hour players on the Attackers side will be tasked with bypassing Firewall access points, locating the laptop and initiating a hack.
Defenders will be charged with securing the Firewall access points, protecting the laptop and preventing the hack.
Players will be rewarded with in-game with cryptocurrency and experience points upon successful completion of contracts/matches. The currency can then be used to upgrade contractors, the modern weapons, equipment, load-outs and customization options.
The game can with others online through PlayStation Plus, according to the PS Blog post from Adam Orth, First Contact Entertainment’s creative strategist. Orth was the co-founder of VR studio Three One Zero, which developed and released the space title Adr1ft on Oculus, HTC Vive, and PSVR last year.
A fully playable 4v4 PvP demo is available on the PSX 2017 show floor this weekend, and those who aren’t there, will be able to get their hands on Firewall Zero Hour when it releases in 2018.
More information on Firewall Zero Hour will be announced at a later date. Watch the video clip for the game above taken from the PSX 2017 main stage presentation, courtesy of Spiel Times.
