Chinese smartphone maker Huawei is reportedly ‘getting inspired’ by Apple. According to a report by XDA-developers, the upcoming flagship from Huawei, expected to be called the P11, will have «nearly bezel-less design with an
iPhone X
or Essential Phone style notch.»
The report claims to get this information through reliable sources of firmware files, which they obtained from a service which lets you install pre-release Huawei firmwares, FunkyHuawei.club. This service also lets users recover bricked devices, and rebrand/convert phones to different variants/regions. The image shared in the configuration files reveals a «RoundCornerDisplay.» Various other configuration files also accommodate the notch on the display.
Also, there is a more specific configuration file that refers to one of the system build properties as a «notch.»
Another detail revealed by the report is that the Huawei P11 smartphone has a 6.01-inch display with 2160 x 1080 pixels resolution, however, as per the boot animation the device has a 2244 x 1080 resolution. This divergence in resolution definitely implies a change in design, specifically the notch.
Whether the company will call it P11 or not, Huawei is expected to showcase a flagship on the Mobile World Congress 2018.
Recently, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor launched a budget smartphone in India called the Honor 7X. It comes in two storage variants — the 32GB storage version and the 64GB inbuilt storage model priced at Rs 12,999 and Rs 15,999. Both the variants will be available in three colours — Black, Blue and Gold.
In terms of specs, the smartphone has a 5.93-inch full-HD+ ‘FullView’ IPS display of 1080×2160 pixels resolution screen. It is powered by the octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 659 processor in addition to 4GB RAM. Running EMUI 5.1-based on Android 7.0 Nougat, the Honor 7X is backed by a 3340mAh battery. For imaging duties, it has dual rear camera setup of 16MP + 2MP and an 8MP front-facing camera.
