The Nokia 9 might come with dual 5MP cameras at the front along with a bezel-less design and an OLED display.
After taking on the likes of the OnePlus 5T and Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 with the Nokia 8, HMD Global wants to challenge the iPhones and Samsung Galaxys of the smartphone world with the Nokia 9. The Nokia 9 is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2018, possibly as early as January, and rumours suggest that it might come with dual 5MP cameras at the front along with a bezel-less design, dual rear cameras and an OLED display.
Yesterday, Nokia 9’s specifications were leaked online via FCC’s website in the US. The leak pointed towards Nokia’s first iPhone killer coming with the Snapdragon 835 processor, a 3,250mAh battery, a 5.5-inch OLED display manufactured by LG (past Nokia Android smartphones have come with an LCD panel), 128GB of internal storage, a 5MP front camera and a 12+13MP dual rear camera setup.
While the specs are on point for a high-end flagship, the single 5MP front camera disappointed many including us at India Today Tech. Now however new information has come to light that points towards the Nokia 9 not coming with one but two 5MP sensors at the front — making its selfie capabilities look much better.

The FCC listing shows the Nokia 9 coming with a Chicony CKACE19 camera module at the front. Chicony’s website actually shows that it is in fact a dual camera module consisting of two sensors — a 5MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.0 and another 5MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.4. The f/2.0 sensor is responsible for video and the camera module supports autofocus.
The actual capabilities of the secondary sensor is not known at the moment. Whether it is a black and white sensor or a sensor capable of capturing depth data will only be known when HMD Global unveils the Nokia 9 next year.
