The quarterback got into a heated confrontation with his offensive coordinator.
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady had an animated exchange with longtime offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels early in Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.
After an incompletion on third-and-11 ended a Patriots drive late in the first quarter, CBS television cameras captured Brady walking past McDaniels without looking at him, then turning to yell at his offensive coordinator for several seconds on the sideline.
The source of Brady’s frustration was unclear, and he declined to elaborate in his postgame news conference .
«It’s just football,» Brady said. «Yeah, we’ve been around each other a lot. I love Josh.»
Coach Bill Belichick also didn’t reveal any details about the exchange.
«You’ll have to ask Josh about it or I don’t know, Tom,» Belichick said after the game . «Just out there trying to win a football game.»
Brady and McDaniels have worked together for more than a decade, including five seasons before the coordinator became the Denver Broncos’ head coach in 2009 and more than five seasons afterward. Together, they’ve won four Super Bowl titles dating to 2004, when McDaniels was the team’s quarterbacks coach.
While Brady’s exchange with McDaniels made the rounds on social media, the 12-time Pro Bowler also reached a new statistical milestone earlier in Sunday’s game, surpassing 65,000 career passing yards. He is only the fourth quarterback in NFL history to reach that mark, joining Peyton Manning (71,940 yards), Brett Favre (71,838) and Drew Brees (69,140 as of Sunday morning).
