The OnePlus 5T starts receiving Android Oreo based OxygenOS 5.0.2 via an OTA update. The rollout, as per OnePlus’ forum post, is incremental and will gradually reach broader rollout in a few days.
The OnePlus 5T, launched in November of 2017, was the company’s first phone to sport the increasingly popular 18:9 aspect ratio screen and thin bezels. Neowin’s Timi Cantisano reviewed the device extensively in January, concluding that it was a fairly priced handset with acceptable compromises. The phone shipped with Android 7.1.1 Nougat-based OxygenOS, with the company promising to release an Open Beta for Android Oreo by the end of 2017. As promised, Open Beta 1 was released by the end of December, followed by the Open Beta 2 earlier this month.
Today, OnePlus announced through a forum post that the company is beginning to push an incremental rollout of its Android Oreo based OxygenOS 5.0.2. According to Adam Krisko, Beta Program Project Manager at OnePlus, the Over-The-Air (OTA) update will be incremental and will reach a small percentage of users today, reaching a broader rollout in the next few days. This means that not all users of the 5T will see the update initially.
According to the changelog provided by OnePlus, aside from introducing the various new features, this update also addresses the Spectre CPU vulnerability:
The update should also be available via the OnePlus support website, although it doesn’t appear to be available there at the time of writing.
