It’s the third fatal accident in three days in the area.
A 25-year-old man is dead after a car crash on East Ashland Street early Sunday morning, police said.
The Brockton Enterprise reports police and fire responded to the one-car accident at 3:53 a.m., when they found a Nissan Maxima on its side after it struck several trees near the intersection of East Ashland and Bennett streets.
The victim was a 25-year-old male, according to Brockton Fire, and he was the only occupant in the vehicle. CPR was performed at the scene, and he was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital. His identity has not been released.
The vehicle sustained heavy damage to its front end and roof, and Brockton Fire used the Jaws of Life hydraulic extrication tool to rescue the victim.
State police are performing accident reconstruction analysis, according to Brockton police.
The crash occurred just east of the intersection of East Ashland and North Cary streets in northeast Brockton.
At the scene, the Nissan Maxima came to rest on its passenger side after striking several trees. The airbag was deployed.
The fence of a nearby home was damaged by a fallen tree.
A dense fog advisory was in effect Saturday into Sunday, the National Weather Service said, coupling with heavy rain for limited visibility on the roadways.
The fatal accident was the third in three days in the area. Friday, a 28-year-old Avon man was killed in a three-car accident near East Main Street and Harrison Boulevard in Avon. Saturday, a 74-year-old Canton man was struck and killed by a pickup truck while standing outside a neighbor’s house on High Street.
Police responded to two other car accidents Sunday morning in Brockton, where at least two people were treated for injuries.
At 9 a.m., a car appeared to drive off Manley Road and into the Nissan 24 car dealership in Brockton, damaging several vehicles for sale. About one hour later, a pedestrian suffered minor injuries when they were struck by a vehicle near Champion Fuel on Warren Avenue.
