Here’s a look at some key features of the smartphone…
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro features a bezel-less display. The smartphone packs a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with 1080×2160 pixel resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. The display is made scratch resistant with a coating of Corning Gorilla Glass on top.
India is the first market that the company has launched Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro in. After the India launch, the company will be launching the handset in other regions as well though it didn’t specify the geographies.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is the first smartphone from Chinese smartphone brand to come with a 20MP selfie camera. The front camera can capture portrait shots and also comes with a selfie light for low-light selfies. Along with this, the smartphone also sports a dual rear camera setup with one 12MP and other 5MP modules.
The company launched the Redmi 3 smartphone back in 2016 and it was the first smartphone at that time to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 616. Taking the same trend ahead, Redmi Note 5 Pro is the first smartphone in the world to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor. The chipset comes with Kryo technology which is also seen in the chipsets of 800 series.
Other 6GB RAM smartphones available in the market Redmi Note 5 Pro is among the cheapest 6GB RAM smarphone to launch in India. The other 6GB RAM smartphone in this price segment is Coolpad Cool Play 6. All other smartphones like OnePlus 5T, Samsung Galaxy A8+ are priced higher.
To get face unlock feature via OTA update With the launch of iPhone X, face unlock has become a rage among smartphone makers who are scrambling to incorporate the feature in their smartphones. The company announced at the launch that the Note 5 Pro will also receive the face unlock functionality via an OTA update in March this year.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro runs Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box topped with MIUI 9 UI layer of the company. However, Xiaomi is working on an Android Oreo update and will soon roll out the same for the smartphone.
Price and availability: Price starts at Rs 13,999, is Flipkart exclusive The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro will be exclusively available online on Flipkart and Mi.com and offline on Mi Home stores starting February 22. The company has also announced that the smartphone will soon be at all the authorised retail stores in the country. The company has priced the 4GB RAM version at Rs 13,999 and 6GB RAM variant at Rs 16,999.
