Google has announced the Android Enterprise Recommended Program. The company claims that its a Google-led global initiative that raises the bar of excellence for enterprise devices and services.
NEW DELHI: Google has announced the Android Enterprise Recommended Program. The company claims that its a Google-led global initiative that raises the bar of excellence for enterprise devices and services. Validated by Google, the Android Enterprise Recommended Program establishes best practices and common requirements for devices and services, backed by a thorough testing process conducted by the company.
The search engine giant adds that the devices under the program should meet the set specifications to help organizations handle the most challenging and diverse business environments. Along with this, the manufacturers who are part of the program will also get enhanced level of training and technical support from Google.
Google has included 5 smartphone makers in the list along with 32 devices. However, the shocking part is that it has not included Samsung in the list. The approved list include companies like LG, Nokia, Sony, Huawei and Blackberry.
David Still, director of Android Enterprise, said in a blog post, “You can expect more Android Enterprise Recommended devices to be added in the coming weeks and months. Throughout 2018, we will also be applying the Android Enterprise Recommended framework to additional partner types, including OEMs of “dedicated” and rugged devices, mobile carriers, enterprise mobility management (EMM) providers and systems integrators.”
The company also revealed the list of best practices that should be included in a good enterprise device. The list include:
Minimum hardware specifications for Android 7.0+ devices
2. Support for bulk deployment of Android devices including zero-touch enrollment
3. Delivery of Android security updates within 90 days of release from Google, for a minimum of three years
4. Availability of unlocked devices, direct from manufacturer or reseller
5. Consistent application experience in managed profiles and on managed devices
