The video game multinational Sony Interactive Entertainment officially releases a brand new browser-based version of PlayStation Network, calling it ‘My PlayStation’.
It’s safe to say that many users of Sony‘s mobile app for PlayStation Network would agree that it’s far from ideal, with plenty of fans having clamored for a more palatable and user-friendly option to engage with PSN’s features outside of their consoles for quite a while. Now, it seems as if the video game multinational has recognized fans’ demands for this, and has launched a browser-based version of PlayStation Network called “My PlayStation” with the site having gone live today.
According to a post on the official PlayStation Blog, Sony‘s My PlayStation is intended to be a social destination on the Internet for fans to access key PSN features from a web browser across PC, Mac, mobile phones, and tablets. The site grants users full access to all the features they would ever want to check while away from their respective consoles, as it allows fans to edit their profiles, find friends, view Trophies, send and manage friend requests, and communicate with messages.
We here at Game Rant logged into My PlayStation and were immediately greeted with our account, showing us our friends list and profiles, various trophies collections, and messages we have received. What’s more is that the browser-based version of PSN also provides a quick menu of who’s online and who’s not. This feature will be great for those who simply want to know if anyone else is currently online before powering on the PS4 to squad up and play such multiplayer-friendly titles such as Monster Hunter World.
Taking all of this into consideration, My PlayStation is definitely a welcome alternative to the PSN mobile app, as its sleek interface and easy-to-use design should allow fans to remain engaged with PSN’s features whenever and wherever they want. And since it seems as if Sony is listening to its ever-growing user PS4 user base, perhaps the company will finally implement one of the most highly requested features in the near future – that is, the ability to change one’s username.
Sony‘s My PlayStation site is live now.
