If you yearned for an iPhone X that looked more luxurious, you probably would have purchased the unreleased gold variant of the handset. Now, we can see what it looks like courtesy of an FCC filing.
The iPhone X made its retail debut late last year, arriving in two colors, Silver and Space Gray. Now, it looks like Apple originally might have planned to release a third color upon the iPhone X’s initial launch.
According to a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) filing, Apple submitted documents that show off a gold-colored iPhone X. The color is quite similar to what can be found on the gold iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. According to MacRumors, the document was apparently filed months in advance of the retail release of the iPhone X, anywhere from July to September, suggesting that the firm could have had plans to make the color available at launch.
Many of the details of these documents were available for quite some time, but the images were sealed for six months under a confidentiality clause that only recently expired. It is uncertain as to why Apple did not release the third color of the iPhone X but it will be interesting to see whether this option will be available sometime in the future. Maybe this is something that will be announced at the firm’s upcoming WWDC conference in June.
Apple most recently announced its (PRODUCT) RED iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. The units can now be purchased through Apple, third-party retailers, and also wireless carriers.
