Unless you’re a huge draft nut or Oregon Ducks fan, you may not know much about the newest Lion. Here’s a quick primer on @Tyrellcrosby:
Here’s some quick analysis from ESPN’s group of draftniks after learning of the Lions’ pick of Crosby.
Louis Riddick: «This is a guy who can play right tackle or left tackle, and the Lions need a swing guy.… They need a guy who can be equally effective playing left or right.… He has some issues as far as body posture, but in the run game, he will throw people around.»
Todd McShay: «He’s a bad-bodied assassin…. He was the best-player available for me coming into today.»
Here’s a quick look at Crosby’s athleticism. Of course, he was able to capture the moment on Twitter:
The Las Vegas native is 6-foot-5 and 309 pounds. He’s from Henderson, Nev., just outside of Las Vegas. Last season, the Ducks played in the Las Vegas Bowl and for the game, Crosby changed his number from 73 to 58 to commemorate the 58 victims in last year’s mass shooting in Las Vegas.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Crosby majored in preplanning, public policy and management at Oregon. He’s interested in being a city manager, not necessarily a politician.
“I’ve always enjoyed that part of things, but not taking credit so much,” Crosby told the Review-Journal.
