Tech Executives Join Calls for Gun Control Following YouTube HQ Shooting

«Another tragedy that should push us again to #EndGunViolence.»
CEOs of various technology companies joined the call for gun control after three people were injured when a woman allegedly open-fired at YouTube headquarters.
Uber Technologies Inc. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi tweeted Uber’s support to YouTube and its gratitude for the “heroic first responders.”
“Another tragedy that should push us again to #EndGunViolence,” he added.
Aaron Levie, CEO of Box, also tweeted his support and concluded his message with the “NeverAgain” hashtag, which was created in the wake of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey called for the country to stop being “reactive” to shootings and noted that we need to “evolve our policies” because “thinking and praying” it won’t happen again isn’t effective.
He pointed followers to the March for Our Lives website, which advocates for:
Dorsey acknowledged these measures won’t solve everything but called it a “simple and reasonable approach” that will serve as a “good start.”
The San Bruno Chief of Police confirmed Tuesday’s shooting resulted in three injuries and the death of the shooter, who is believed to have died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Apple Inc. CEO Tim Cook, Amazon.com Inc. CEO Jeff Bezos, and Facebook Inc. COO Sheryl Sandberg all offered their sympathy after the shooting, although, they didn’t specifically reference the gun control debate.
