Twitter for Windows 10 has been updated to version 6.0.9.
The good news is that the PWA now has full support for Windows 10 Mobile and Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.
The bad news is that the update disabled notifications and live tile updates while the app is closed.
The reason is that these older versions of Windows 10 do not support Service Workers in the web app rendering engine, who remain active even after the app is closed.
Ironically the updated (reverted) version has been released just when the April 2018 update would have brought this feature to millions more Windows 10 users.
Given that Windows 10 Mobile will never get Service Workers, it remains to be seen what exactly Twitter’s game plan going forward will be, but presumably, it will at some point include dropping support for Windows 10 Mobile.
