President Donald Trump tweeted on Sunday morning that no matter what happened between himself and Chinese President Xi Jinping in regards to trade, they will continue to be friends.
He stated that China will “take down its trade barriers because it is the right thing to do.” Trump added that taxes between the two nations will become reciprocal and “a deal will be made on intellectual property.”
President Xi and I will always be friends, no matter what happens with our dispute on trade. China will take down its Trade Barriers because it is the right thing to do. Taxes will become Reciprocal & a deal will be made on Intellectual Property. Great future for both countries!

Since assuming his role as president, Trump has repeatedly touted the message of “fair and reciprocal” trade between America and other nations, including China.
On Mar. 22, he signed a memorandum that ordered the U. S. Trade Representative and Treasury Department to limit China’s aggressive trade policies. He called it a measure that will make America a “much stronger, much richer, nation.”
On Thursday, Trump threatened to impose an additional $100 billion of tariffs on Chinese imports, which China responded to by threatening equivalent tariffs.
The new escalation of a possible trade war between China and the United States came on the heels of Trump’s announcement of tariffs on $50 billion worth of Chinese goods being imported into the U. S.
The dispute over trade has raised concerns that if it comes to blows, the tariffs, which Trump has touted as a way of helping the American economy, could end up hurting it, instead.
