John McCain Reportedly Wants Obama at His Funeral But Not Trump

McCain and Trump have long had a contentious relationship
The family of Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.) does not plan to invite President Donald Trump to the senator’s funeral when the time comes, according to a New York Times report.
McCain and Trump have long had a contentious relationship, including Trump slamming McCain and insisting he was not a war hero during his 2016 campaign.
“He’s not a war hero,” Trump said back then, referring to the former prisoner of war. “He’s a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured.”
The relationship did not get better after Trump was elected, particularly after Trump mocked McCain after he voted against a key Obamacare repeal.
According to NBC, it is McCain’s wish that Trump not attend. However, two former presidents — Barack Obama and George W. Bush — will be in attendance and be asked to deliver eulogies for the longtime and well-known GOP Senator who has been battling an aggressive form of brain cancer.
McCain is currently with his family close by his side, recently told NPR, he doesn’t “know how much longer I’ll be here.”
Obama was also in attendance at the recent funeral of Barbara Bush . Trump did not attend.
