The key highlights of the smartphone are its 6.1-inch QHD+ 19.5:9 FullVision Super Bright display, Snapdragon 845 and, iPhone X-like notch and dual 16-megapixel rear cameras.
LG on Wednesday launched its latest flagship smartphone, the LG G7 ThinQ with lots of AI features at an event in New York. The smartphone comes in four colour variants — New Platinum Gray, New Aurora Black, New Moroccan Blue and Raspberry Rose. The key highlights of the smartphone are its 6.1-inch QHD+ 19.5:9 FullVision Super Bright display, Snapdragon 845 and, iPhone X-like notch and dual 16-megapixel rear cameras. For the G7 ThinQ, LG borrows AI camera features from the recently launched V30S ThinQ and also comes with Face recognition support. Alongside the LG G7 ThinQ, the company also launched the Plus model, aka G7+ ThinQ.
With the new G7 ThinQ, LG is mainly «focusing on bringing useful and convenient AI features to the fundamental consumer smartphone experience». The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s current most-powerful mobile platform — Snapdragon 845 chipset. The LG G7 ThinQ comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage, while the LG G7+ ThinQ comes with 64GB and 128GB of internal storage, both expandable up to 2TB via microSD card.
On the front, the smartphone sport a 6.1-inch display which when compared to last year’s LG G6 is much bigger. The LG G6 comes with a 5.7-inch display. The LG G7 ThinQ comes with a polished metal rim which gives the device a sleeker look. The smartphone incorporates a layer of Gorilla Glass 5 on both front and back, which enhances the durability of the device. The LG G7 ThinQ comes with an iPhone X-like notch on top of the display. Apparently, the users will be able to customize notch in whichever way they want.
The smartphone is IP68 rated which means it is dust and water resistance. The company claims that «the LG G7 ThinQ was designed to meet the requirements of MIL-STD 810G tests designed by the United States military to evaluate the performance of equipment in harsh environments.» The G7 ThinQ comes with LG’s new LCD technology — FullVision Super Bright Display, which means that the display will not struggle and be clearly visible even under direct sunlight. The display of the LG G7 ThinQ can be set to six different viewing modes including — Auto, Eco, Cinema, Sports, Game, and Expert.
The camera of the LG G7 ThinQ is an upgraded version of the predecessor device. The smartphone comes with an 8-megapixel selfie camera on the front and dual 16-megapixel sensors on the back where one is the standard camera, while the other one comes with the ability to capture Super Wide Angle shots like landscape pictures. In addition, the smartphone comes with AI camera features similar to that of the V30S ThinQ. However, the LG G7 ThinQ includes enhanced AI features compared to the V30S ThinQ. The AI CAM now offers 19 shooting modes, up from eight. This will let users shoot even more intelligence-optimized shots. The smartphone also comes with a new Super Bright Camera which takes the low light photography to a whole new level. The LG G7 ThinQ comes with the ability to capture «up to four times brighter typical of photos shot in dim light» claims the company. The smartphone also comes with other camera features like — live photo mode, stickers, portrait mode, bokeh effect and more. At the back, right below the dual camera set up is the fingerprint sensor housed in a circular module.

The LG G7 ThinQ comes with support for Google Assistant and Google Lens. The smartphone consists of an extra physical button — under the volume control which will help users launch the Google Assistant and Google Lens. A single tap of this button will launch the Google Assistant while two quick taps will launch Google Lens. Users can also hold down the button to start talking to the Google Assistant. The company claims that the LG G7 ThinQ will be one of the first phones to get upcoming Google Lens features which will be announced at Google I/O event. The phone also comes with Super Far Field Voice Recognition (SFFVR) and a highly sensitive microphone.
The LG G7ThinQ comes with Boombox Speaker and is also the first smartphone to offer DTS:X to deliver virtual 3D sound. The LG G7 ThinQ is equipped with a Hi-Fi Quad DAC for incredibly rich sound especially when paired with high-impedance earphones. The smartphone runs Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box and backed by a 3000mAh paired with Quick Charge 3.0 Technology and wireless charging.
LG is yet to announce the price of the G7 ThinQ, and it may reveal it at the time of availability of the phone. «Price and purchase details will be announced locally closer to the time of availability,» says LG. The LG G7 ThinQ will be first available in South Korea in the coming days, followed by other major markets like — North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia.
