NEW DELHI: HMD Global the company that hold the licence to manufacture Nokia branded Android smartphones have announced that the last year launched Nokia 2 will receive Android Oreo 8.1 update by June this year.
The company launched the smartphone last year with Android 7.0 Nougat.
To recall, the Nokia 2 features a 5-inch HD display with 720×1280 pixel resolution. The display offers 16:9 aspect ratio and is protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass on top.
The company claims that the smartphone packs a 4,100 mAh battery which can deliver 2 days of battery backup in a single charge. Powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor, Nokia 2 supports 1GB RAM and 8GB inbuilt storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB with a microSD card.
The Nokia 2 boasts of a 5MP fixed focus front camera for selfies and an 8MP rear autofocus rear shooter with LED flash. The smartphone also offers support for Google Assistant.
In terms of connectivity it offers GPS, GLONASS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, FM Radio and Bluetooth. It measures 143.5×71.3×9.30mm and supports dual SIM cards (Nano).
Recently, at an event in Moscow, HMD Global has launched its next generation lineup of budget smartphones. The company has unveiled Nokia 2.1, Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1 smartphones. All the three smartphones run Android One Oreo operating system and are successor to the last year launched Nokia 2, Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 smartphones.
Along with the launch of the three smartphones the company also announced that all the three devices will also received Android P update.
