HMD Global is gearing up to launch a brand new version of the Nokia X in China on May 16.
HMD Global is gearing up to launch a brand new version of the Nokia X in China on May 16. Ahead of the launch, the upcoming Nokia X made its way to the Chinese certification website TENAA on Thursday revealing almost all the key specifications that the smartphone may pack. With just a few days to go for the launch — a week to be precise, the Nokia X has now been leaked in live images, revealing the complete design of the phone. The live images show the Nokia X with a glass body and also confirm notched display and dual camera set up on the back panel.
According to earlier rumours, Nokia X will be the first phone by the Finland based company to come with iPhone X-like notch on top of the screen giving room for the selfie camera and earpiece to fit in. The newly leaked live images confirm the same. However, going by the new live images of the Nokia X leaked on Chinese microblogging site — Weibo, looks like the smartphone will sport a smaller notch compared to the iPhone X.
The live images show the Nokia X from all sides. Coming to the front panel first, the Nokia X is seen with very thin bezels on the sides. However, there is a slight bottom chin on the bottom with standard Nokia branding. The images show no physical capacitive keys for the Nokia X, instead, reveal on-screen navigation buttons.
Moving to rear panel, the live images show the Nokia X with a dual rear camera set up fitted within a vertically aligned oval-shaped housing. Following the dual camera set up, we see a LED flash which will help capture clear pictures in low-light situations. Right below the dual camera set up sits the circular fingerprint sensor module, which is followed by the Nokia brand logo. The live images reveal side details of the Nokia X as well. On the left side we see the power and volume controllers, while the right side will include the SIM card tray.
The striking factor about the Nokia X design is the white colour outline running around the power and volume button, the dual rear camera set up, and the fingerprint sensor. The white outline makes the camera set up, fingerprint sensor, and the side keys to standout and also adds up to the design of the phone.
On Thursday, Nokia X was spotted on the Chinese certification website TENAA which revealed the complete (almost) specs details of the phone. The benchmark listing revealed that the smartphone will sport a 5.8-inch TFT display with a screen resolution of 2280×1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9. On the hardware front, the Nokia X (2018) is said to be powered by an octa-core processor which will work on a clock frequency of 1.8 GHz. Earlier rumours had suggested that the Nokia X may be backed by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor.
The TENNA listing reveals that the Nokia X will come in three variants — 3GB RAM, 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM coupled with either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. The storage capacity can be expandable via up to 128GB via a microSD card. The benchmark listing further suggests that the Nokia X will come in three colour variants — Blue, Black and Silver white.

The TENNA listing doesn’t reveal the camera specs details of the Nokia X, all that it reveals is that the smartphone will sport a Carl Zeiss lens in the rear camera. Going by the earlier rumours, the new Nokia X is expected to come with two 16-megapixel sensors on the rear, the details of the front camera remain unknown so far. The new Nokia X is said to be backed by a 3,000mAh battery and run on Android 8.1.0 Oreo out-of-the-box.
As for the pricing of the phone, the Nokia X is expected to be a mid-ranger and may come with a starting price CNY 1,600, which is roughly around Rs. 16,900. There’s still no word on the Nokia X India launch.
