Plays 40 classic Neo Geo games
To celebrate SNK’s 40th anniversary, the company will release a new console called the Neo Geo Mini, a miniaturized version of its MVS arcade cabinet that comes with 40 Neo Geo classics.
The Neo Geo Mini will be mini indeed — the console includes a 3.5-inch display and “fits perfectly in the palm of one’s hand,” according to SNK’s announcement. The console’s official dimensions are 135 mm wide by 108 mm deep by 162 mm tall, and it weighs 600 grams. That works out to roughly 5.25 inches by 4.25 inches by 6.25 inches, and 1.3 pounds.
The system will include an HDMI port for TV output, a headphone port and two external controller ports.
SNK didn’t say which titles would be included in the 40-game lineup, but photos of the device show games like Metal Slug, Samurai Shodown 2, The King of Fighters ’97 and ’98, and Real Bout Fatal Fury 2: The Newcomers. SNK also didn’t announce a price or release date for the Neo Geo Mini.
The Neo Geo Mini will be released in two styles: one for Asian markets and one for the rest of the world. The Asian version will be more colorful than its international counterpart. Images of the Neo Geo Mini can be seen in the gallery below.
