Trump says Kim Jong Un would get 'protections' in denuclearization deal, warns of 'decimation' if talks fail

Trump said he’d offer Kim Jong Un “protections” before casually threatening to “decimate” North Korea if denuclearization talks fall apart.
President Trump said he is «willing to do a lot» to offer Kim Jong Un «protections» on Thursday before casually threatening to «decimate» North Korea if denuclearization talks fall apart.
«He will get protections that are very strong,» Trump said during an Oval Office meeting with NATO’s secretary-general. «The best thing he could do is make a deal.»
Trump and other administration officials said there are no plans to change or reduce the scope of current U. S.-South Korean military exercises that pushed North Korea to threaten to pull out of Trump’s upcoming summit with Kim Jong Un.
The North abruptly canceled a planned meeting with South Korean officials over the drills and threatened to pull out of the summit, set for June 12 in Singapore, over the U. S. insistence on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
