No word on what’s been changed in these versions though
While no specifics have been provided, it looks like the new firmware updates, which also come alongside driver updates, are specifically supposed to address compatibility issues with the latest Windows 10 feature release.
Microsoft hasn’t updated the firmware pages of its Surface models, but according to reports, Surface Book 2, Surface Laptop, and Surface Pro are all getting new improvements as we speak.
Windows 10 April 2018 Update was released as a manual download on April 30, while the public rollout via Windows Update started on May 8.
Just as expected, Microsoft’s very own Surface devices were among the first to get the new operating system, and third-party statistics showed that adoption was fast.
Data provided by AdDuplex for the month of May showed that Microsoft Surface Book and Surface Pro 3 were the leaders in terms of upgrades to Windows 10 April 2018 Update, followed by Surface Pro, Surface Book 2, and Surface Pro 2. Surface Laptop and Surface 3 were the slowest to move to Windows 10 April 2018 Update.
“Newer Surface models are beating the global average, when it comes to April 2018, while older ones are lagging behind. Surface Laptop is a notable exception with only 37.3%. Another thing to note, in previous releases, Surface Pro 3 was often behind the other Surface Pro models but in this case, it is leading the pack,” AdDuplex explained.
Microsoft hasn’t provided any information on these firmware updates, but you can check out to see if they’re there for you by heading over to Windows Update. Your device must be running Windows 10 April 2018 Update, as it looks like these latest improvements aren’t yet shipped to devices powered by a previous Windows 10 version.
