The Pokémon Company has announced that its latest free-to-play title, Pokémon Quest, will be releasing on Android and iOS devices next week, almost one month after the launch on the Switch.
Late last month, when The Pokémon Company announced Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee! and Pokémon Let’s GO, Pikachu!, a smaller game called Pokémon Quest was also announced for the Nintendo Switch as well as mobile devices. While the Switch version released just a few minutes after the announcement, a version for smartphones was promised for late June.
Well, the time has come and the company is officially announcing that Pokémon Quest will hit Android and iOS devices on June 27, which is a week from today. The news comes on the same day as the company celebrates 2.5 million downloads of the Switch version .
For those unfamiliar with the game, Pokémon Quest is a free-to-play title in which players travel to Tumblecube Island to discover cube-looking versions of Pokémon originally met in the Kanto region, starred in the first generation of Pokémon games.
The game plays somewhat differently from main series games, as the Pokémon move and explore areas on their own, with the player focusing on choosing which areas to tackle, training Pokémon, choosing which items to give them and decorating the base from which they set out on adventures. The gameplay is pretty straightforward, and it should be pretty easy to pick up and play for any user.
While it only contains first-generation creatures for now, if it proves to be successful, updates could be part of the plans for the game, as has been the case with Pokémon Go since its initial launch two years ago. Pokémon Quest can be found on the Nintendo Switch eShop here, and you’ll be able to find it in the Google Play Store and iOS App Store starting next week.
