China said Thursday it won’t tolerate “threats and blackmail” as it prepares for the U. S. to implement tariffs on billions of dollars worth of Chinese goods.
USA Today reported that a spokesman for the Chinese government said Beijing will defend itself if the Trump administration follows through on Friday with its pledge to implement tariffs on $34 billion in Chinese products.
“China will never fire the first shot. However, if the Untied States adopts taxation measures, China will be forced to fight back to defend the core interests of the nation and the interests of the people,” Commerce Ministry spokesman Gao Feng said, according to USA Today.
