Michelle Obama has reportedly recruited celebrities, musicians, and pop stars to launch a non-partisan voter initiative campaign in an effort to encourage participation in the midterm elections.
The former First Lady will appear in public service announcements and live events alongside celebs such as Tom Hanks, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, Houston Rockets star Chris Paul, singer Janelle Monae and Lin-Manuel Miranda, according to Politico .
The “When We Vote” initiative will launch on Thursday with the first PSA being released and others in the near future, the paper said.
The group is planning rallies and voter registration “days of action” leading up election day.
Some top Democrats were frustrated, however, because the initiative could prevent Michelle Obama from actively campaigning for Democratic candidates, Politico said.
