During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Capcom reveals that pricey Collector’s Edition for Resident Evil 2, detailing what fans get for their $200 investment.
Capcom brought Resident Evil 2 to San Diego Comic Con this year, revealing the game’s GameStop-exclusive $200 Collector’s Edition in the process. The Collector’s Edition, which is only available in North America, comes with the Deluxe Edition of the game, blueprints for Raccoon City Police Department renovations, a DLC pack voucher, the digital soundtrack, a collector’s artbook, and a 12 inch figure of Leon S. Kennedy in his police uniform. All of this content will be stored in a replica of an item box as they appear in the Raccoon City Police Department.
Overall, the Resident Evil 2 Collector’s Edition, which is only available for PS4 and Xbox One, seems like it’s offering a lot for hardcore fans, but people will have to decide for themselves if the hefty $200 price tag is worth the price of admission. Players who would rather spend a bit less can still pick up the Deluxe Edition separately for $69.99, and that comes with plenty of DLC goodies for fans of the franchise.
The Deluxe Edition of Resident Evil 2 comes with the ability to swap the new soundtrack for the original soundtrack, alternate costumes for both Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, plus Albert Westker’s Samurai Edge pistol. Additionally, players will get their hands on previously announced pre-order bonuses for the game, meaning they can get the Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine variants of the Samurai Edge pistol as well.
Even though the Collector’s Edition of Resident Evil 2 is rather pricey, it may still be worth the investment for diehard fans of the franchise. The Collector’s Edition items are likely exclusive items, meaning collectors won’t be able to pick up the Raccoon City Police Department blueprints, the Leon figure, or the item box packaging as separate items elsewhere.
Luckily, players can still get the Deluxe Edition of the game for just $10 more than the base game, and as previously stated, it comes with some in-game incentives. Of course, players could just stick with the $59.99 standard version of the game, as everything included in the Deluxe Edition and the Collector’s Edition are just extra and don’t appear to have any significant impact on the gameplay.
Assuming it lives up to the hype, the base game should deliver plenty of quality content for anyone looking to buy Resident Evil 2, so fans shouldn’t have to break the bank to be satisfied with the experience. After all, Resident Evil 2 won Game of the Show at E3 2018, so it does seem to be living up to expectations so far.
Resident Evil 2 will launch on January 25 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
