Epic Games has announced an upcoming update will implement input-based matchmaking. This means KBM players will be matched with other KBM players.
Epic Games has outlined how it plans to implement changes to matchmaking between a player’s choice of peripherals.
In the latest Fortnite State of the Game post, Epic Games announced in an upcoming release it will implement input-based matchmaking.
Epic said earlier this month it was working on matchmaking tech to pair Fortnite players based on peripheral choice. Looks like it’s on the way.
Here’s how it will work: if anyone in the party uses KBM on PlayStation 4 or PC, they will be paired up with others using the same input device. Same for those who use a controller.
“We have an upgrade to our matchmaking logic that will allow for a more even playing field when enjoying Fortnite with your input device of choice,” reads the post . “In an upcoming release we’ll be implementing input based matchmaking, which will pair you against players who are using the same peripherals.’
In short, players who use controllers will be matched with other controller users. KBM players will be matched with other KBM players.
The developer is also working on providing players the ability to remap their gamepad and will continue to work on optimizations for controllers across all platforms.
