Hate getting out of bed in the morning? Google’s Android Clock app has a new feature that can make your wakeup a little more bearable: Spotify-powered music alarms.
Announced Tuesday, the new feature lets you select any Spotify track to wake you up in the morning. The integration will be rolling out over the next couple days to Android users in all 65 markets where Spotify is available.
«This has been a top Spotify user request for years, and we can’t wait to see music fans picking their favorite tracks, artists, and playlists to kick-start their day,» Spotify’s VP Business Development Jorge Espinel said in a statement.
To try it out, just open the Clock app, connect and authenticate your Spotify account, head over to the Alarms tab, and make your pick. Those with a premium Spotify account can select any track, album, artist, or playlist in the company’s catalog to wake up to. Those who use the free version of Spotify can still take advantage of this feature but will have to settle for shuffle mode.
When you go to set up this feature, Spotify will offer some personalized recommendations and curated «morning playlists» with tracks like «Here Comes The Sun» by The Beatles and «Walking on Sunshine» by Katrina and The Waves just in case you need some inspiration.
Google’s Clock app comes preinstalled on some Android devices. If you don’t already have it on your phone, head over to Google Play to download it.
Meanwhile, you can also set music alarms with Amazon’s Alexa and Google Assistant .
