On Friday, President Donald Trump announced that he would cancel his controversial military parade after Washington, D. C. gave, what he considered to be, too high of a price tag for the event:
The local politicians who run Washington, D. C. (poorly) know a windfall when they see it. When asked to give us a price for holding a great celebratory military parade, they wanted a number so ridiculously high that I cancelled it. Never let someone hold you up! I will instead…

….attend the big parade already scheduled at Andrews Air Force Base on a different date, & go to the Paris parade, celebrating the end of the War, on November 11th. Maybe we will do something next year in D. C. when the cost comes WAY DOWN. Now we can buy some more jet fighters!

“When asked to give us a price for holding a great celebratory military parade, [D. C. politicians] wanted a number so ridiculously high that I cancelled it,” Trump tweeted on Friday.
Trump’s tweet came amid a report that the estimated cost of the parade increased significantly from $12 million to $92 million. The administration originally planned the parade for November of this year, but it was then delayed until 2019, according to NBC News.
The president apparently felt that the city was trying to rip him off and decided to just go forward with a previously scheduled parade at Andrews Air Force Base.
“Maybe we will do something next year in D. C. when the cost comes WAY DOWN. Now we can buy some more jet fighters!” he added.
