Mollie Tibbetts’ father is calling on politicians and pundits to stop politicizing his daughter’s murder.
An undocumented immigrant from Mexico has been charged with first-degree-murder in the 20-year-old Iowa woman’s death.
In an op-ed in the Des Moines Register, her father, Rob Tibbetts, called on politicians to stop using her murder to advance their political agenda, particularly when it comes to the conversation surrounding immigration.
While Tibbetts says he encourages the debate on immigration, he goes on, “But do not appropriate Mollie’s soul in advancing views she believed were profoundly racist.”
«The person who is accused of taking Mollie’s life is no more a reflection of the Hispanic community as white supremacists are of all white people,» Tibbetts continued. «To suggest otherwise is a lie.»
This comes just days after Donald Trump Jr. wrote a column in the same paper, criticizing the reaction to Tibbetts’ murder by Democrats and liberal media outlets.
