A few months back, Samsung’s new Galaxy Book had been spotted on the Russian EEC certification website. Earlier this month, the device received approval from South Korean National Radio Research Agency as well as the Wi-Fi Alliance. The upcoming device, which will likely rival Microsoft’s Surface Book, has now been certified by the US FCC.
The Samsung Galaxy Book 2 has been listed on the FCC website with the FCC ID A3L SMW737NO. As revealed by the EEC listing a few weeks back, the tablet will arrive with the model number SM-W737. In addition to SM-W737, the EEC listing also revealed the SM-W738 model number along with various regional variants. Since the SM-W737 has been certified by the US, it looks like the SM-W738 variant of the 2-in-1 device will not be sold in the US. As expected, the FCC listing does not tell us anything interesting about the device, except for confirming that it will be available with LTE connectivity. The FCC listing also confirms that the Galaxy Book 2 will support Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band.
Samsung had launched the Galaxy Book last year in two sizes – 10.6” and 12.0”. The Galaxy Book made its debut with a lot of productivity-focused features, including S Pen support and a whole range of S Pen features such as Air Command, Smart Select, Samsung Notes, and more. The Galaxy Book 2 will no doubt retain all the productivity-focused features of the original model, along with a few notable upgrades. While the current Galaxy Book models run on 7 th Generation Intel processors, we expect the Galaxy Book 2 to run on the latest 8 th Generation Intel processors. In the software department, as revealed by the device’s Wi-Fi certification listing, it will ship with Windows 10 in S Mode. There is no word yet on when Samsung plans to debut the second-generation Galaxy Book models just yet. However, seeing how the various Galaxy Book 2 variants have been receiving certifications from various agencies globally, we can expect them to go on sale in at least a select few markets by the holiday season this year.
